An Introduction to Drypoint Printmaking Workshop with Hetty Haxworth
Create a series of prints in this hands-on introduction to Drypoint Printmaking.
No prior experience is needed - beginners are very welcome.
Drypoint printing is an intaglio technique where a design is scratched onto a plastic plate using a sharp tool. The plate is then covered with ink and wiped off with a cloth, leaving the ink only in the incised lines. Damp paper is placed over the plate and it is put through a printing press, creating an embossed print with a soft velvety quality.
Join Hetty for an exploration of Drypoint printmaking, where you will:
- Learn about Hetty's creative practice through examples of her work
- Be introduced to the printmaking process, tools, and health & safety
- Be guided through this etching technique with your design into a perspex plate
During the workshop, you'll also have the opportunity to:
- Use a tabletop printers press
- Experiment with test prints
- Leave with one or several finished prints
There will be a refreshment break halfway through the session.
