Birnam Arts hosts showings of work throughout the year, comprising of solo and group exhibitions.
We work with artists and makers at varying stages of their careers, offering early career creatives their first solo exhibition as well as hosting more established artists.
We continually develop new opportunities to support the practice and development of Scottish based artists, whilst also bringing work that is inspiring, creative and different to the contemporary art scene in rural Perthshire. That means that as well as supporting Scottish creatives, the exhibitions programme is thoughtfully developed to engage and inspire local audiences in Perthshire, whilst also contributing to the wider arts community in Scotland.
Our gallery programme is usually confirmed at least one year in advance following submitted project proposals from our rounds of 'Open Calls'. We are currently reviewing our Open Call process. If you would like to make sure you hear about the next Open Call, please sign up for our newsletter.
All submissions are considered carefully, but as we are such a small team, we’re unfortunately unable to offer feedback on individual exhibition proposals.
We understand Galleries can be quite curious places to visit, so we work with the artists to ensure each installation is accessible and understandable to all our visitors. Just to the right of our Balcony Doors, you'll find the project statements to help contextualise the current exhibition.
Our exhibitions programme supports both local and wider Scottish based artists by offering solo, shared, or group exhibitions. We will release our next round of Open Calls this autumn for submissions to exhibit in January to August 2023. To apply, you will be required to complete an application form and submit this by the closing date.
Info >In 2021, we launched our first Studio-Access Artist Residency programme with the first of two pilot projects, offering the opportunity for Scottish-based artists to develop their practice in Birnam Arts' dedicated studio spaces.
