“Lyrics and musical arrangements crackle with wide-eyed curiosity.” Jude Rogers, The Guardian
Written during residencies on the Isle of Eigg, the Isle of Mull and Sanday in Orkney, Swilkie is rooted in place and story. Through poetic songs and contemplative melodies, Lane explores ecology, folklore and our evolving relationship with the sea — from basking sharks and curlews to lighthouses, lichen and vanishing islands.
Recorded in a boathouse on Scotland’s west coast, the album carries the quiet presence of the shoreline itself, with subtle guitar, droning shruti box and beautifully layered arrangements supporting Lane’s distinctive, ethereal voice. She is joined by an exceptional ensemble of musicians, bringing warmth, depth and texture to the live show.
Praised for its atmosphere, musicianship and emotional resonance, Swilkie offers a spellbinding, reflective concert experience — intimate, thoughtful and deeply connected to landscape and community.
“In Swilkie, she has created an album that celebrates the link between community, ecology and landscape, and calls for us all to recognise its importance.” — KLOF Mag (2025)
