SWISS Alpine Pass Route Alta Via 1
The Alpine pass route is split into 15 stages from east to west Switzerland (described by Reynolds, Cicerone Guides). The route starts from the old town of Sargans in the east of Switzerland to Montreaux, on the shores of Lake Geneva. The trek traverses 326km of mountain and valley with a variety of route route options but nominally crossing 16 passes all over 1500m.
The trek passes through beautiful scenery and amazing flora and fauna including animals such as the brown bear, wildcat, chamoix and marmots. The flora is world renowned as it is one of Europe’s botanical hotspots. Little did he know it was going to be such an adventure!
