Two masters of song Jill Jackson and Boo Hewerdine are finally hitting the road together. A musical and personal friendship was discovered when Jill enlisted Boo to produce her album ‘Are We There Yet?’ back in 2018. The musical synergy was instant. A tour which has been almost five years in the making, touring the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, exploring some of the most culturally enriched parts of the country to share stories and bring each other’s songs to life.
Jill is one of Scotland’s leading singer-songwriters and an acclaimed artist within the thriving international Americana music scene. Her sensitive and sympathetic storytelling, heart-rending vocals, and sheer love of Americana music, have earned her a loyal fan base around the world and not surprisingly, drawn
comparisons to the likes of Brandi Carlile and Joni Mitchell. A natural-born storyteller and award-winning artist, Jill effortlessly marries swinging American charm with Scottish heart.
For over 30 years Boo Hewerdine has been considered one of the UK's finest singer-songwriters. As lead singer of seminal band The Bible, through to his subsequent solo work and long-time collaboration with the incredible Eddi Reader, he has become something of a national treasure. He is in demand as a writer, producer and performer. Over a hundred of his songs have been covered by the likes of KD Lang, Kris Drever, Chris Difford, Heidi Talbot and Hannah Rarity. His last album ‘Before’ was recorded with supreme Danish multi-instrumentalist Gustaf Ljunggren. It garnered multiple five star reviews.

This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.

Pop in to the Foyer Cafe for breakfast, grab a delicious coffee with a selection of our homemade baking or enjoy a light lunch whilst browsing on the free WiFi. Wander upstairs to view the latest of our monthly art exhibitions before visiting the world of Beatrix Potter, or the Gift Shop to purchase a special gift for your loved ones or yourself!
Perthshire is so lucky to benefit from such an amazing community, arts and performance venue. I have so many great memories of attending various performances and parties at Birnam Arts! Hoping to attend many more to come! Birnam Arts has a place in many peoples hearts and is an essential community resource.
