Dunkeld and District Strathspey and Reel Society Concert and Ceilidh

16 November 2024

The concert and ceilidh promises an evening filled with the vibrant tunes of Highland Perthshire, played by talented musicians who are dedicated to preserving and sharing this rich heritage. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, the society welcomes players of all instruments to join them every Monday at the Royal School of Dunkeld.

Are you a fan of traditional and contemporary fiddle music? If so, you won't want to miss the 3rd annual concert and ceilidh arranged by the Dunkeld and District Strathspey and Reel Society at Birnam Arts.

Co-founded in 1932 and deeply rooted in the musical heritage of Highland Perthshire, this society is a living testament to the rich traditions of the area. From the local schoolteacher Miss Begg to fiddler James MacIntosh, the society continues to carry on the legacy of Niel Gow's musical lineage.

But that's not all! The event also includes a lively ceilidh, providing the perfect opportunity to join in the traditional Scottish social dance. The combination of uplifting music and energetic dancing is sure to create an unforgettable atmosphere, making it a truly immersive experience for everyone in attendance.

This family-friendly event will also feature the Dunkeld and Birnam Traditional Youth Group as guest performers, adding an extra layer of musical delight to the evening. So mark your calendar and come join us for an evening of beautiful melodies and lively tunes that will surely leave you with a lasting appreciation for traditional fiddle music.

Lovely wee cafe with amazing service. Been here 3 times now and always notice how friendly and upbeat the staff are. The coffee and cake is top notch also. Will definitely be back the next time I head to Dunkeld!
