Evening Concert: Ross Ainslie & Hamish Napier

Thu 16 Oct
19:30 - 21:30
Doors open 19:00

As part of LOCALfest25, we’re delighted to have Hamish Napier and Ross Ainslie join us in celebrating this inaugural festival, celebrating and exploring the power of community-led tourism. Their performance will capture the very best of Scotland—its stories, music, people, and landscapes—bringing the spirit of LOCALfest25 to life through song and sound

HAMISH NAPIER is a Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist and composer from Grantown-on-Spey and is
inspired by the heritage and nature around him. His album The Woods explores the flora and fauna of Scotland's native forests. It won Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards and is the third album in his Strathspey Pentalogy - an ambitious project to produce five 5-albums in celebration of his homeland. Hamish’s performances often incorporate poems and stories about nature, folklore and communities.

ROSS AINSLIE is a renowned Scottish musician and composer, known for his mastery of the pipes, whistles, and cittern. Born in Perthshire, he began his musical journey with the Perth and District Pipe Band, later joining the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band where he was mentored by the innovative piper Gordon Duncan. This mentorship significantly influenced his musical style, which blends traditional Scottish music with his own innovative compositions, establishing him as a leading figure in contemporary folk music. Ross is celebrated for his solo work as well as many collaborations. Dedication to his craft and his innovative approach have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the Scottish folk music scene.

Thank you to Raven Sinclaire of Traceless Tours for sponsoring this event.

Star Star Star Star Star

This is a lovely light and welcoming building with a cafe and library during the day and some really excellent concerts and shows of all genres mostly in the evening. It's an intimate space but with capacity for several hundred people and tends to be competitively priced. It relies on volunteer support and is an excellent community hub.
