What more do you need than cardboard & a bit of disco tape to create fantastical imagery worlds & objects?! Join Helen O’Brien as she ignites the imagination and turns discarded cardboard into works of art.
Helen O’Brien is a visual artist and maker who sees the creative potential in materials, ideas and people. Helen values the experience of hands-on making to inform and understand what she creates and sees this as an ongoing dialogue with materials and processes. This way of working also relates to her experience as an arts coordinator organising, co-curating and facilitating creative projects with children, young people and communities.
This project is about offering affordable access to the arts and providing opportunity to try high-quality and specialist artistic approaches from professional artists.
These sessions are appropriate for children from P1 to P7 i.e. kids who have just completed Primary 1, up to those going into Primary 7.
The actual cost per session is much higher than the given costs as we feel it is important to pay tutors according to Scottish Artist Union rates and provide access to quality materials and experiences. To ensure our holiday sessions are affordable during the school holidays, Birnam Arts subsidises this with further support from Creative Scotland.
We are offering the sessions on a Sliding Scale framework. Please be honest and pay what you can afford.
