Ongoing Workshops

Birnam Arts runs and also hosts a variety of ongoing weekly workshops. Details can be found below. Depending on the class, registration and fees are either payable in person at the Birnam Arts box office (01350 727 674) or directly with the tutor.


Ceramic Classes - £140/£120

Enquire for Term dates - Classes run in 8 week blocks on Tuesday & Thursday Mornings 10am-1pm and also Tuesday & Thursday Evenings 7.00 - 9.30pm 

Covering a wide variety of techniques in a relaxed and inspiring environment these classes are suitable for both beginners and the more experienced. You can use many different clays & glazes. Materials & Firings are provided. Contact Shona Leitch on 01738 710827 / 07850 713 783 or


Silversmithing - £90 + Materials

Classes run in 8 week blocks, Mondays 10.00 am - 12.00pm, please enquire for term dates.

Our silver-smithing class teaches a range of techniques used in jewellery design, including texture, form and design. Tutor, Ann Little, also teaches Precious Metal Clay techniques for those interested in this discipline. Suitable for all levels of ability, all previous participants have created delightful, unique and wearable pieces of Jewellery. Book via box office.



Book Binding Techniques - £8 per session

Wednesdays 10.00am - 12.30pm, Enquire for Term dates.

This very popular, relaxed drop-in workshop continues on a weekly basis with tutor Ron Stuart. If you would like to learn the art of book-binding without pressure then come along to this gentle, informal workshop where you will build your skills up with Ron's expert tuition. Crocheting Classes - Wednesdays 7-9pm

£40 per 4 week block please enquire for term dates. Places are limited and must be paid in advance.

Beginning at a basic crochet skill level, you'll be able to progress in a small and supportive group environment led by expert crocheter Dawn Seager up to advanced levels. Materials Provided, but please bring along a no. 5 crochet hook with you.


Upcycle It - Mondays 2-4pm or 7.30-9.30pm


This eco workshop is bang on trend.. create your own unique piece from someone else's cast offs and contribute to saving the environment at the same time. Run by Jess Pepper of Climate Cafe, this is an enjoyable and social workshop where you can swap ideas or themes and come up with new, innovative ideas to pass on and share. There'll be items to choose from, but bring along any items you no longer want, so they too can be upcycled!

Healthy Brain! Contemporary Dance with Agathe Girard

Designed to keep both body and mind healthy, this workshop will introduce you to the key concepts of contemporary techniques, with a strong emphasis on placement and body awareness. Improve your flexibility, core strength, balance, precision and range of movement, whilst developing spatial awareness, musicality and confidence - all of which help your brain to stay healthy!


Healthy Brain! Conversational French with Agathe Girard

The second workshop in our "Healthy Brain" series - come along and learn conversational French in an informal, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Suitable for beginners and those who have learnt in the past, but feel the need to refresh. Bring some paper and a pen and help yourself to a better lifestyle through exercising the grey matter!
