THE ROXBURGH QUARTET was formed in 2005 with a common vision: to share a passion for the wonderful repertoire for string quartet with as wide an audience as possible.

The Quartet performs a wide range of repertoire throughout Scotland. They are Quartet in Residence at Edinburgh’s beautiful Lauriston Hall where they regularly play to large audiences … their repertoire here has included the late Schubert Quartets, programmes of French music, the German Romantics,  inspiring performances of Bartok’s First Quartet and Scottish contemporary composer James Clapperton’s ‘Shir Corbie Ravin’.

The Roxburgh also include early music, such as Purcell, in their repertoire, spurred on by the success of performances they gave of J.S. Bach’s The Art of Fugue in the lunchtime concert series of both Edinburgh and St Andrews Universities with harpsichordists John Kitchen and Tom Wilkinson.

“… intimate and involving, they are adept in presenting a balanced musical discourse in a convincing but relaxed and unaffected manner.”
